About The Artist

Andrea Valerie is a Sydney-based makeup and special effects artist whose work lives between beauty and the bizarre. With a Bachelor in English and Creative Writing from UNSW, a Makeup Diploma from NIDA and an Advanced Diploma in Special Effects from ACMUSE, Andrea brings storytelling and cinematic technique into every creation.

Her practice draws on the concept of the grotesque feminine - exploring the raw, visceral and imperfect aspects of the body that are often hidden or dismissed. Through pieces like tooth jewellery, nipple keyrings and flesh hearts, Andrea transforms what might be considered taboo into something intimate and beautiful.

Alongside her work in film and special effects and her role with Kryolan Professional Makeup, Andrea founded Oddities by Andrea Valerie as a space to merge these worlds - art, fashion, and the human body - and to build a community that celebrates unconventional beauty, handmade horror and creative self-expression.
